Stephen Young Global Leaders’ Scholarship Programme UK

The goal of the Stephen Young Global Leaders’ Scholarship Program (SYGL) is to pay tribute to Professor Stephen Young, a former head of the marketing department who served as Dr. Charles Huang’s PhD advisor and mentor. In honor of him, the Charles Huang Foundation has donated money to support up to five annual scholarships for exceptionally talented students enrolled full-time (one year) in Glasgow’s Strathclyde MBA program beginning in September 2023.

Any deserving applicant who thinks they match our eligibility requirements and aptly embody the principles listed in our qualifying guidelines is welcome to apply for the Stephen Young Global Leaders Academy. Before submitting an additional application to the Stephen Young Global Leaders’ Scholarship Program, you must fulfill the requirements for admission to the Strathclyde full-time MBA program, possess a current offer to enroll in this program for the year of study of your choice, and accept this offer. If you want to apply for the Stephen Young Global Leaders Scholarship Program, you must be able to show that you have extraordinary academic merit. For instance, an outstanding undergraduate degree from a UK university or a commensurate degree from a similar non-UK institution

  • You have to be a self-supporting student without access to outside financing sources like corporate sponsorship or other scholarship funds.
  • If your application is selected for further consideration, you will have to appear in person or virtually for a formal interview.

Procedure for Selection For Stephen Young Global Leaders’ Scholarship Program

The following will be the method used to choose the scholarship recipients:

A panel from the Strathclyde Business School will shortlist all submissions that are submitted online using a formal application form. A Selection Committee will next be constituted to review each application that made the short list.
The Academic Director of the MBA program at the Business School and other senior academic members will be on the Selection Committee, which will be led by the Executive Dean of the Business School or his/her nominee.
The Selection Committee will use a simple majority to decide decisions. The University will make the ultimate decisions on selection; if a decision cannot be reached, the Chair will make the final decision. Recommendations will be shared with the Donor.
